Following a remarkable performance against arch-rivals Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko’s midfielder, Richmond Lamptey, emphasizes that the team won’t become complacent.
The 26-year-old showcased an outstanding display during the weekend clash, sparking discussions among Ghanaian football enthusiasts about his potential inclusion in the Black Stars squad for the 2023 AFCON.
As the Porcupine Warriors secured a 3-2 victory over Hearts of Oak, Lamptey, along with his teammates, orchestrated a comeback at the Baba Yara Stadium in GPL match-day 14. The team rallied from a goal down, with Steven Mukwala netting twice and Isaac Oppong adding another.
In an interview, Lamptey conveyed a grounded approach, emphasizing the importance of maintaining focus and diligence. “We can’t be complacent after beating Hearts of Oak. I will urge my teammates to work extra hard in order for us to beat Great Olympics on Sunday,” he stated.
Currently holding the 7th position with 22 points, Asante Kotoko will face Great Olympics in their upcoming fixture as they continue their Ghana Premier League campaign.
