Ghana’s Black Galaxies head coach Annor Walker says the team didn’t go to Algeria to joke.
The coach is confident his team will win the African Nations Championship (CHAN) which start on Friday in Algeria.
This will be Ghana’s first appearance after missing out on the three previous editions and will open their campaign against Madagascar on Sunday, January 15.
Annor Walker will be the fourth coach to lead the team to the tournament and is hopeful of being the first to win it for the two-time silver medalists.
Maxwell Konadu restored Ghana’s fortune in 2014 by marching the team to the final once more, only to lose again to Libya and Ghana has since then struggled to participate in the tournament.
However, Annor Walker believes his players are capable of making history in Algeria.
“We didn’t come here to come and joke. We didn’t come here to look at how Algiers is. We came for a purpose. We came also to win the cup,” he said.
Ghana will play Madagascar in their first 2022 of the competition on Sunday evening at 7pm.
