Nana Kweku Agyemang has stated that the technical team does not expect the Black Starlets to win or keep clean sheets in every friendly match, following the team’s performances in their pre-AFCON preparatory games.
The Assistant Coach of the Black Starlets made this comment after the national U-17 side conceded goals in both of their recent friendly encounters ahead of the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations.
Speaking after the matches, he maintained that friendly games are primarily meant for assessment and improvement rather than just results. He stressed, “We don’t expect them to win or keep clean sheets in every friendly game.”
His statement highlights the technical team’s focus on building a solid squad, correcting mistakes and testing different tactical approaches before the start of the continental tournament.
Although the team conceded in both games, the coaching staff believes the experience gained will help sharpen the players and strengthen their overall performance when the competition officially begins.
The Black Starlets continue their preparations, with the technical team working to tighten the defence and improve overall coordination as they gear up for the upcoming championship.
