Asante Kotoko midfielder Baba Yahaya has attributed the club’s failure to win the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League title to complacency among new signings.
The talented attacking midfielder, who joined the Porcupine Warriors last summer, played a key role for the team and helped them finish 6th on the Ghana Premier League standings.
However, he believes that the team’s failure to gel and work hard from the start of the season ultimately cost them the title.
“We failed to win the league because most of us relaxed after arriving at Kotoko,” Baba Yahaya told the media team of the club.
“We thought we were good enough just because we joined a big team, but that’s not how it works. We need to keep working hard and stay focused if we want to achieve our goals.”
Despite his disappointment at not winning the title, Baba Yahaya had a promising debut season in the Ghana Premier League, playing in 25 games and scoring two goals while providing five assists.
He is now looking forward to his second season with Asante Kotoko and hopes to help the team do better in the upcoming campaign.
