Ghana forward Inaki Williams has expressed his excitement and parted his teammates on their shoulders after earning a hard fought draw at home against Valencia CF.
The attacker acknowledged the impact of the home fans and thanked them for aporaciating the team’s effort to avoid defeat at home.
“We gave our all. Hard work and effort is a non-negotiable for us and we could see San Mames appreciated that tonight.”
The Ghana International, Inaki Williams shone in Athletic Bilbao FC entertaining clash against Valencia CF in the Spanish La Liga on Sunday evening.
Though he didn’t find the back of the net but was very instrumental as they drew 2-2 against their opponents to avoid home defeat.
Oscar de Marcos scored the opening goal of the match to put the hosts 1-0 up two minutes after the half hour mark with a sumptuous goal to send the fans into wild jubilation.
On the 62nd minute mark of the match, Fran Perez grabbed the equalizer for the away team with a good finish to restore parity to make it one all.
Hugo Duro made it 2-1 to the away team six minutes after they equalized to put the hosts under severe pressure with just over 20 minutes left to the end of the match.
Deep into additional time period of the match when all hope was lost, Williams provided a crucial assist to Alex Berenguer to score the equalizer to electrify the San Mames faithfuls who were staring at defeat with just one minute left.
The game ended in a pulsating 2-2 draw after 90 minutes.
The 29-year-old Ghanaian international has four goals and three assists in 11 games for Athletic Bilbao FC in the Spanish top-flight.
