Augustine Evans Adotey, the head coach of Medeama SC, is determined to achieve a favorable outcome that will secure their qualification for the next round of the CAF Champions League in the return fixture in Nigeria, following their 1-0 victory over Nigerian side Remo Stars on Sunday afternoon
In a fiercely contested match at the Cape Coast stadium, the Yellow and Mauves managed to secure a 1-0 triumph against their Nigerian counterparts, courtesy of a goal in the opening half.
Starting with determination, the champions of the Ghana Premier League eventually capitalized on their superiority, with Jonathan Sowah finding the back of the net in the 22nd minute to claim the lead.
Reflecting on the contest in a post-match interview, Adotey commented, “Remo Stars were more fitter than us; we expected them to defend and hit with the counter attack but they attacked and attacked”
“We played against a very disciplined team. We did our best and we hope to complete the job in Nigeria,” he affirmed.
The upcoming leg of the match is scheduled for the following week at the Remo Stars stadium in Ogun State, Nigeria. Medeama will strive to secure progression to the next round of the Champions League.
The victor of this encounter will subsequently go head-to-head with the formidable Guinean squad, Horoya AC, in the second phase of the preliminary round.
