Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko believes securing a victory against Basake Holy Stars will provide his team with a crucial confidence boost ahead of their highly anticipated clash with Hearts of Oak.
The Yellow and Mauves will host Basake Holy Stars at the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa on Tuesday in a Ghana Premier League Matchweek 21 fixture, aiming for back-to-back wins to solidify their position in the league table before their trip to Accra on Sunday.
“We are playing at home, and we definitely want to take all three points so that it will give us confidence going into our next game in Accra,” Tanko said at his pre-match press conference.
Medeama come into this fixture on the back of a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Aduana FC on March 23. They also have a psychological edge, having defeated Basake Holy Stars 2-1 in their previous meeting six months ago.
Basake Holy Stars, meanwhile, arrive in poor form, having suffered consecutive defeats to Asante Kotoko and Bibiani Gold Stars. Their struggles on the road continue, with the team conceding in their last 10 away matches and failing to win in their last seven outings.
Medeama currently sit seventh in the league standings with 35 points from 23 matches, while Basake Holy Stars are 13th with 27 points. A win for Medeama would not only boost their confidence but also enhance their momentum ahead of their showdown with Hearts of Oak.
