Asec Mimosas has been one of the teams on the continent that has a very rich record against Ghanaian clubs. Julien Chevalier’s charges repeated the superb performances of their predecessors by winning 2-1 in Kumasi to lift the 2024 President Cup.
Asec Mimosas honoured GHALCA’s invitation for the 67th Independence Day Celebration of Ghana as they flew straight from Morocco to Ghana after the 1-0 defeat on Saturday in the CAF Champions League against Wydad Casablanca.
After the 2-1 success, Asec Mimosas’ head coach made it clear that they approached the game with all seriousness.
“We planned to be serious. We planned to show a good picture of Asec Mimosas,” said Julien Chevalier, the Asec Mimosas coach.
Right from the onset, one could see the eagerness and the determination in the Asec team as they pressed, ran and fought for every ball which unsettled Asante Kotoko.
Ghana is 67 years old and as part of the birthday celebrations, a football match was organised between old foes Asec Mimosas and Asante Kotoko in Kumasi. Asec triumphed 2-1.
