Dreams FC coach Karim Zito has finally broken his silence on the shocking 8-1 win over Real Tamale United (RTU) on Wednesday, June 12, 2024.

According to Zito, his team played the game under protest due to allegations that RTU intentionally deceived the match officials by using unregistered players to impersonate officially registered players.

The inexperience of the makeshift RTU squad was evident, leading to the heavy loss. Despite taking an early lead in the fourth minute, RTU was quickly overwhelmed by Dreams FC’s strong offense. Agyenim Boateng Mensah equalized and went on to score five goals, while Benjamin Bature added two more goals and Dede Ishmael completed the scoring spree.

The controversy surrounding the game was further fueled by the revelation that the player credited with RTU’s only goal, Lord Adabo, did not even travel to Dawu for the match.

“We had information before the game that they were going to play with young players (unregistered players), so I instructed my team manager to inspect them to provide anything they ought to have produced and after they failed to produce them, I ensured that we played the game under protest,” Zito told Kessben Sports. “We made a protest on that before the game.”

Meanwhile, RTU has been charged by the Ghana Football Association’s Disciplinary Committee and has until Friday to respond to the charges.
