Bibiani Gold Stars’ coach, Michael Osei, couldn’t contain his joy after his team’s historic victory over Asante Kotoko at Dun’s Park on Saturday, September 23, 2023.
The win held special significance for Osei as it marked his first victory over his former club. The 52-year-old had previously played for the Porcupine Warriors and later served as an assistant coach for the team. He achieved league titles as both a player and manager with the club.
Osei’s squad took the lead in the match when Prince Kwabena Owusu scored in the 65th minute, but Sherrif Mohammed, coming off the bench, leveled the score for Kotoko five minutes later.
Eric Bosomtwi’s well-executed goal in the 73rd minute ultimately secured the victory for Gold Stars, and the elation was evident in their coach’s words.
“(I am) so, so, so happy. So, happy. Let me congratulate the playing body. I think it was amazing performance; amazing score line. We dominated the game. I mean, we showed that we deserved the win,” Osei said post-match.
“…This is amazing. Since I came to Bibiani, this is my first win against Kotoko. When I left Kotoko, my first win was when I was in Liberty but since I came to Bibiani, this is my first win so, I am so happy,” he added.
