Black Stars deputy captain Thomas Teye Partey has called on government to provide good stadiums in the country to bring out the best in the talented Black Stars players.
The Arsenal midfielder made this plea when vice President and the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia paid a visit to the Black Stars team ahead of their 2026 World Cup qualifying game against Central Africa Republic later tonight.
Dr Bawumia led a delegation to visit the Black Stars camp ahead of their game against the Wild Beast. He was accompanied by the Sports Minister, Ussif Mustapha.
The entourage was received by the President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Okraku and head coach Otto Addo.
“We are ready. We want to give our best tonight. I have one request, from all the players, we ask for a good stadium because we want to play better football,” he said.
Meanwhile, as a form of motivation, Dr Bawumia presented GHC500,000 during his visit to the team on Monday morning.
Ghana’s group is widely open, with all teams having a fair chance after three rounds of matches. The four-time Africa champions are tied on six points with Madagascar and Comoros.
Currently sitting in third place in Group I with six points, Ghana is trailing behind Madagascar and Comoros, who are both also tied at six points but have a better goal difference than the Black Stars.
Ghana could occupy the top spot on the standings with a victory over the Central African Republic, taking a commanding lead in the World Cup qualifying bid.
