Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams has declared that Ghana’s objective at the 2026 FIFA World Cup is nothing short of reaching the final.

The tournament, which will be jointly staged by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will mark Ghana’s fifth appearance on football’s biggest stage. The Black Stars have been placed in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia.

Speaking to Citi Sports, the Buem Member of Parliament stressed that Ghana are approaching the competition with a bold and focused mindset.

“Our intention is to stay there until the last game, so you have to prepare,” Adams said. “Once you qualify, planning must start immediately. We are going in with the belief that we can go all the way.”

His comments underline a renewed sense of ambition following Ghana’s group-stage eliminations at the 2014 and 2022 World Cups in Brazil and Qatar, respectively.

Ghana will open their campaign against Panama on June 17, before taking on England on June 23. The Black Stars will conclude their group matches against Croatia on June 27.

As part of preparations, the team is scheduled to regroup in March for international friendlies against Austria and Germany, followed by a final pre-tournament test against Mexico in May.

The Ghana Football Association has confirmed that the Black Stars will camp at Bryant University in the United States throughout the competition as they aim to make a deep and historic run at the FIFA World Cup.
