Ashantigold SC suffered a 2-1 defeat to defending Champions Accra Hearts of Oak on Sunday in their Ghana Premier League week 21 game at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Two goals from attacker Daniel Afriyie ensured the Phobians returned to winning ways. Aminu Adams, however, scored the only consolation goal in the game for the Miners.
Speaking after the game, head coach Samuel Boadu said: “We all know the trend, Ashanti Gold is a good side, but we were so determined to beat them and that’s what we just did,”
Meanwhile, Ashantigold SC head coach Thomas Duah says his team was cheated by centre referee George Mawuli Vormanor.
“You could clearly see that the referee had his own results in his pockets, even though Hearts of Oak played well but the referee was awful, very soon we will start bringing our schnapps to the pitch, because we will be cursing any bad referees,” Duah said.
