Head coach Chris Hughton expressed his disappointment with missed opportunities following Ghana’s defeat to Comoros in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
In his post-match interview, Hughton acknowledged that Ghana was the superior team throughout the match. He attributed the loss solely to the team’s failure to convert the chances they created.
While congratulating Comoros on their victory, Hughton emphasized that Ghana dominated the game and conceded what they considered to be a poor goal. However, their inability to capitalize on the chances they had ultimately cost them the match.
“Congratulations to Comoros for the victory. In my opinion over the 90 minutes, we were the better team. I thought Ghana we were the better team. We conceded what we regarded as a poor goal to concede and we were not able to capitalise on the chances that we had.
“So this was not a game where Comoros won this game comfortably. Over the 90 minutes, we were the better team but unfortunately, we were not able to put away the chances that we created,” Coach Chris Hughton said.
Ghana’s defeat to Comoros prevented them from taking the top spot in Group I in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
