Ghana’s Black Stars left-back, Gideon Mensah, has voiced confidence in the team’s readiness to capitalize on any potential missteps by Sudan as the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers reach a crucial phase.
Ghana’s path to qualification now hinges on both their own performance and Sudan’s results. For the Black Stars to advance, Sudan must falter in their final two matches against Niger and Angola, while Ghana needs to secure victories in their remaining games. Even one draw by Sudan could derail Ghana’s AFCON hopes entirely.
“We are made for this. The journey is not always going to be smooth. We’ve come to a junction where we have to hope and work for ourselves,” Mensah stated following Ghana’s initial training session in Accra on Monday. “We are going to watch the game and see what will happen, but at the end of the day, the focus is to pick our six points and anything that happens on the side, we are there for it.”
The Black Stars will face Angola in Luanda on Friday, November 15, before concluding their qualifiers at home against Niger on Monday, November 18, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Ghana currently stands third in Group F with two points from four matches, trailing Angola by ten points and Sudan by five.
