Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has outlined his plans to go all out in securing the team’s first victory in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, following a goalless draw against Sudan at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Despite Ghana’s challenging start to the campaign, Addo remains confident that the Black Stars can turn things around as they prepare for the crucial return leg against Sudan in Libya. The four-time AFCON champions have struggled in Group F, managing just two points from their opening three games.
Speaking after the draw, Addo acknowledged the mounting pressure but stressed that the team’s fate is still in their own hands. “The positive thing is that it’s still in our own hands. We have to win the next game, and that’s all,” Addo said.
While Addo refrained from offering guarantees, he reassured Ghanaians that the team will give their best effort. “This is football. I cannot even assure [my life]. Maybe God will take my life tomorrow. We will try our best, and I know that at the end, we will be rewarded,” he stated.
However, the coach warned that a win in the next match does not guarantee qualification, emphasizing that the journey to AFCON 2025 remains tough. “We can win the next game and still not qualify. We have a long way to go. It’s going to be tough, but with this performance, we will do it in Libya against Sudan,” Addo concluded.
Ghana’s qualification hopes now hinge on securing a positive result in their upcoming clash with Sudan, with the Black Stars desperate to kick-start their campaign and get back on track.
