Ibrahim Tanko, head Coach of Medeama SC, has declared his team’s readiness for the epic CAF Champions League return fixture against TP Mazembe in Lubumbashi, DR Congo on Saturday.
The Ghana champions face a daunting task in DR Congo after succumbing to a narrow defeat at the TNA Stadium in Tarkwa last weekend.
The Yellow and Mauve must overturn the one-goal deficit away from home to secure qualification to the next round.
Ahead of the match, the former Black Stars assistant coach insists his outfit has what it takes to compete for a positive results against TP Mazembe.
“We knew TP Mazembe are a very good club, and I think they have won this competition five times, so we definitely respect them. But I don’t think we have to be afraid of them,” Tanko said.
“Football is played on the pitch, and we are ready to face them in the second leg.”
The much-anticipated second leg is scheduled for Saturday, September 12, in Lubumbashi.
TP Mazembe will have the advantage of playing in front of their home supporters, but Medeama will be confident of mounting a comeback as they look to keep their CAF Champions League campaign alive.
