Ghanaian international Inaki Williams has expressed his excitement after inspiring Athletic Bilbao to a crucial 2-0 win against Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in the UEFA Europa League.
The Black Stars forward played a pivotal role in securing the victory on Thursday night at San Mamés Barria, where he found the back of the net and helped his team collect all three points.
Williams, 30, broke the deadlock in the 72nd minute, with an assist from his younger brother, Nico Williams. Athletic Bilbao extended their lead in the 86th minute through Oihan Sancet, again set up by Nico, sealing a dominant performance by the Spanish outfit.
Following the match, Inaki Williams took to social media to celebrate the win, writing, “How beautiful it is to play Europa League in San Mamés. What a win, we deserved it. Thank you all for the support.”
Inaki has been in exceptional form this season, contributing six goals across 10 matches in all competitions. In La Liga, he has recorded one goal and four assists, while in the Europa League, he has netted once in two matches.
The 30-year-old forward is expected to be part of the Black Stars squad for their upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualification doubleheader against Sudan next week.
