Ex-Ghana and Juventus player Kwadwo Asamoah has revealed that there’s a huge difference between being a football administrator: especially when an ex-footballer and someone who didn’t play football gets the chance to lead football administration.
Kwadwo Asamoah when commenting on Ghana’s state in football now meant that those who never played football’s administration work in football cannot match those who are ex-footballers when serving as administrators.
“You might have a degree in football but what an ex-professional footballer can bring on board from the experience on the field, your degree cannot match”, Kwadwo Asamoah disclosed.
Ghana’s football has been managed by politicians, businessmen and lawyers in recent years as ex-footballers have been sidelined.
The current Ghana Football Association president is not an ex-player, his predecessor Kwasi Nyantakyi was a lawyer.
We are lucky to have the likes of Abedi Pele, Sammy Kuffuor, Steven Appiah, Tony Baffoe, Asamoah Gyan and many others still alive. What prevents the nation from employing them as administrators?
The state of Ghana’s football needs help as it has hit rock bottom. The last two AFCONs have been disastrous while youth football is dead.
