Former Crystal Palace and Manchester United forward Wilfried Zaha through his Instagram has congratulated the 27 men selected by Jean Louis Gasset to represent Ivory Coast in the AFCON.

The squad list was released yesterday and many football fans were shocked to learn that the ever-dangerous Wilfried Zaha was not included in the list albeit, in 2023, the forward has played in only two games for Ivory Coast- friendly games against Morroco and South Africa.

In an Instagram post, the 31-year-old Galatasaray forward congratulated his colleagues who were chosen by Gasset.

“Good luck to the guys selected to represent the country in this tournament”, said Zaha.

Wilfried Zaha showed no sign of anger as he declared his love and support to the guys who are due to represent Ivory Coast in the AFCON 2023.

“I will encourage you from far away”,  continued Zaha Wilfried.

The 34th edition of the AFCON starts on the 13th of January and ends on the 11th of February 2024.

Ivory Coast is placed in Group A and will open the competition with a fixture against Guinea Bissau at the Stade Olympique Alassane Ouattara in Abidjan.

The Elephants will play Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea on matchday 2 and 3 respectively.
