Vice Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee, Stephen Appiah, says he is confident Ghana possesses the quality to make a strong impact at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
After a disappointing run in 2024, the Black Stars responded impressively by securing qualification for next summer’s global showpiece, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
With Ghana set to discover their group-stage opponents later today in Washington, DC, Appiah — who famously captained the nation to its first-ever World Cup appearance in Germany 2006 — believes the current squad has the talent and mentality to shine on football’s biggest platform.
“The draw for the 2026 World Cup is coming up in December. We are heading to America, Canada, and Mexico,” Appiah said via Betway.
“We have done it before when we went to Germany. And I hope — and I know — with the calibre of players we have, we are going to make it in the next World Cup in 2026.
“Good luck to the team. We need your support and your prayers. See you in America, Mexico, and Canada. Go, Ghana!”
After failing to progress beyond the group stage in Qatar 2022, the Black Stars are determined to produce a far better showing in 2026.
