Charlton Athletic manager Ben Garner has revealed goalkeeper Jojo Wollacott will still travel to join the Black Stars in camp despite being ruled out of the 2022 FIFA World Cup due to injury.

Wollacott, who was expected to be the Black Stars’ first-choice goalkeeper at the Mundial, picked up a finger injury over the weekend ruling him out of the competition.

Despite not going to be in post for Garner, his club manager, Garner has confirmed the shot-stopper will be in Qatar to be part of the country’s ‘party’.

“My understanding is that following surgery he will still meet up with the Ghana squad and remain a key member of their travelling party,” Garner said as quoted by the club’s website.

“Knowing Jojo as I do he will respond to this setback with great maturity and a determination to come back even stronger. I think the world of him both as a person and as a player. It goes without saying that Jojo will receive our full love, care and support throughout this coming period.”

The Black Stars began their preparations for the competition on Monday and started training on Tuesday with only Joseph Aidoo yet to report to camp.
