The Ghana Football Association (Ghana Football Association) has expressed strong confidence in head coach Carlos Queiroz ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, insisting the experienced Portuguese tactician will lead the Black Stars to a successful campaign.

Ghana, who will be making their fifth appearance at the global tournament, are set to compete in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The Black Stars are aiming to reach the knockout stage for the first time since 2010 after group-stage exits in both 2014 and 2022.

The team has been drawn in a demanding Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama, setting up a tough challenge as they prepare for the world stage.

Speaking on DW TV, Communications Director Henry Asante Twum reaffirmed the federation’s full backing for Queiroz and highlighted his vast experience at the highest level of football.

“In the business of football, there are divergent views, and Carlos Queiroz has coached some of the best talents that football can boast of,” he said.

He further stressed the unity and determination within the Ghana FA and technical team as they prepare for the tournament.

“We are solidly behind him, and he has the impetus to take us to the World Cup and make our nation proud,” Asante Twum added.

The Black Stars recently tested their readiness with a 1-1 draw against Wales at the Cardiff City Stadium, a match that formed part of their build-up to the tournament.

Ghana will begin their World Cup journey against Panama on June 17 at BMO Field, before facing England on June 23 at Gillette Stadium. Their final Group L fixture will be against Croatia on June 27.

With Queiroz at the helm, Ghana will be hoping to combine tactical discipline and international experience to finally break their knockout-stage drought and make a strong impression on football’s biggest stage.
