Moroccan national team goal keeper Yassine Bonou has given accounts of how Ghanaian defender Harrison Afful scored against him in the 2011 CAF Champions League finals.
Bonou who was in post for WAC recounted how the petit Ghanaian right back put the ball at the back of his net to give Esperance the Champions League title on November 12, 2011.
“The game was my first major final. I was in a dilemma. I was thinking what if they scored me and WAC do not give me the chance against?” Bonou stated in a press interview ahead of Saturday’s game with Croatia.
“I was scared abit, but that was one of my best game. I pulled great saves but it was a magical moment from Harrison Afful which beat me to give Esperance the cup.”
Bonou has been arguably the best goalkeeper on the 2022 World Cup as he has conceded just three goals in six games with one of them being an own goal against Canada.
