Asamoah Gyan, the former captain of the Black Stars, has responded to reports concerning the divorce settlement with his ex-wife, Gifty Gyan.
After a three-year legal battle, news emerged on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, that the divorce case between the Ghanaian footballer and his former partner had been resolved.
In a ruling, the court determined that Asamoah Gyan, who had previously contested the paternity of his three children with Gifty, was required to provide a monthly stipend of GHc 25,000 to his former wife. The court clarified that this GHc 25,000 monthly stipend does not cover expenses such as school fees for the three children, medical and dental care fees, and travel-related costs, including flight tickets.
As part of the settlement, Gyan’s house in the UK and another one in Ghana were allocated to Gifty. Moreover, one of Asamoah Gyan’s business ventures, a gas station in Prampram, was transferred to Gifty, along with ownership of a BMW car that belonged to the former Black Stars player.
In response to the news, Gyan took to Twitter to comment on a report by Ameyaw Debrah, addressing his over one million followers on the platform (formerly Twitter):
“If I have 10 points and I keep quiet because I’m mature, and you have 2 points and seek public sympathy, then it’s cool. You are very funny. This is deep, so think about it.”
This statement by Gyan reflected his perspective on the matter and the public’s reactions to it.
