Abdul Karim Zito says Asante Kotoko should never have lost their midweek Ghana Premier League match after suffering a surprising 2-1 defeat to Basake Holy Stars in Ayinase.
The Kotoko head coach, who looked visibly disappointed after the game, stressed that his side produced good football and created enough chances but failed to convert them, which cost them the match. The loss ends Kotoko’s unbeaten run and adds to a difficult spell that now includes three draws, one win and one defeat in their last five games.
Zito insisted his players did not perform badly, explaining that they controlled key parts of the game but struggled once again with finishing. He added that despite the setback, Kotoko remain close to the top of the table, noting that the gap between them and leaders Aduana Stars is only three points.
He maintained that the team is still in the chase and must quickly bounce back to restore confidence in their campaign.
