Beitar Jerusalem striker Richmond Boakye-Yiadom, has rendered an unqualified apology to Ghanaians following the Black Stars shambolic performance in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Cameroon.
Ghana disappointedly exited the tournament in Cameroon after a shocking 3-2 defeat to Comoros on Tuesday.
The result saw Ghana finish at the bottom of Group C after failing to win any of their three group matches.
Also, this is the first time since 2006 that the Black Stars have been eliminated from the AFCON in the group stages.
The Isreal-based striker who scored Ghana’s first consolation goal against Comoros after coming on as a substitute, in a Facebook post, urged Ghanaians to forgive the Black Stars players, adding there is no excuse for the team’s failure at the tournament.
“It breaks my heart, we couldn’t live up to expectations at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations. There is no excuse for our failure. We ask Ghanaians to forgive us and we will surely bounce back.Go Ghana, Go Black Stars.” Yiadom wrote on Facebook.
The Black Stars next game will be in March when they play in the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup playoffs.
