Columbus Crew captain Jonathan Mensah, has rendered an unqualified apology to Ghanaians following the Black Stars shambolic performance in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Cameroon.
Ghana disappointedly exited the tournament in Cameroon after a shocking 3-2 defeat to Comoros on Tuesday.
The result saw Ghana finish at the bottom of Group C after failing to win any of their three group matches.
Also, this is the first time since 2006 that the Black Stars have been eliminated from the AFCON in the group stages.
“First and foremost thank you Ghana for always giving me the opportunity to serve our beloved nation. It’s always an honor and I will continue to work hard, improve and avail myself whenever I am called upon. Secondly, to our beloved supporters/fans, we sar from the bottom of our hearts we are extremely sorry for letting you all down. As we take responsibility for this fall and we resolve to do better going forward. God bless our homeland Ghana.” Mensah wrote on social media.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars will play rivals the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup playoffs in March.
Ghana will first host Nigeria at the Baba Yara Stadium- Kumasi before flying to Nigeria later for the return leg of the at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja.
