Despite a total domination, the Cameroon national team failed to score a goal against Zambia (0-0) this Sunday, during the first day of Women’s AFCON 2022 in group B.

“We are not afraid of Cameroon. We have won against this team in the past”. Zambian coach Bruce Mwape had warned Gabrielle Aboudi Onguéné and her teammates, but they did not listen.

Before this first match against Zambia, one could bet on the individual talent and technical superiority of the indomitable Lionesses but the Cameroonian team made the same errors of analysis and started this 14th African Cup of Nations with an avoidable draw (0-0).

One failure after another and deprived of their star striker Barbara Banda, the game plan of the Zambians was clear: a withdrawal in numbers in defense and counter-attacks. A quits or doubles approach to which the Cameroonians were obviously not prepared.
