Hearts of Oak won the 2022 GHALCA President’s Cup after beating rivals Asante Kotoko 2-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium last Friday.
Goals from Daniel Afriyie Barnieh and substitute Patrick Razak saw the Phobians emerge victorious in what was a cagey encounter, ensuring Samuel Boateng’s strike was only good enough for a consolation.
And Muntari who played 81 minutes in the game after being subbed for midfielder Gladson Awako, says the Phobians played very good and deserved the victory over their ‘enemies’ in the crucial cup game.
Speaking to StarTimes after the Phobians Ghana Premier League matchday19 outstanding game 2-1 win over WAFA on Wednesday, the former Inter Milan star said: “I’m pleased but the most important thing is Hearts of Oak,”
“I came in and I got the chance to play for Hearts of Oak, is a big team here, the guys are amazing, the coach the staff so I am very pleased to be here and also the fans are making things right. I am home so it’s just joy to be here.”
“It’s not strange that we won against Asante Kotoko, that game we played very good and today we won, we got three points so it’s important. This our we wont to win so that we climb the table,”
Muntari, 37 scored his first league goal to help the Phobians win their first match in the second round of the 2021.22 season.
