• Bright Adjei is a brilliant footballer
• The unknown superstar is a delight to watch
• Aduana Stars are hoping that Bright Adjei will lead their unlikely title charge.
He deserves all the plaudits, the gratitude and the recognition. He is the heartbeat of Aduana Ogya Ogya:
Aduana Stars is Bright Adjei and Bright Adjei is Aduana Stars. He has rewired Aduana Stars’ season after losing 3 consecutive games in Round 14,15 and 16. Back-to-back-to-back wins with 0 goals conceded, 6 goals scored all by him has followed. A hattrick, a brace and a lone goal.
It has been a tremendous season so far for Aduana Stars. Bright Adjei is enjoying a stellar season just like his club. 12 goals to his credit and he is showing no signs of slowing down. He has equalled his season-best of 12 goals he scored in 2015/16 when Aduana Stars finished as runners up to Wa All Stars by only missing out on the title by 2 points.
Bright Adjei is one of the players in our league with an elegant profile. Domestically, He has won Ghana Premier League (2017) and Ghana Super Cup (2018) both with Aduana Stars.
Individually, his acrobatic goal against Ashanti Gold at Len Clay Stadium in Week 4 in March 2016 was voted for as the best by CNN for their goal of the week. He beat off competition from Celtic’s Tom Rogic, Barcelona’s Luis Suarez and Javier Cortes of Pumas.
Bright Adjei’s overhead kick goal in a 1-1 draw in Week 27 at Sogakope against WAFA won the CNN goal of the week award again, making him the first-ever two-time winner of the award in August 2016. He saw off another stiff competition from Anderlecht’s Lukasz Teordorzyk, Chester’s Elliot Durrell and Xabi Alonso of Bayern Munchen.
How exciting is it to see his name in such a company?
Adjei barely gets the hype and the attention every wonderful footballer deserves. He is 7 goals shy of equalling Aduana’s surprise world record of a league title winner with the fewest scoring record. Aduana Scored 19 goals in the 2009-10 season and it remains the fewest goals scored by a league winner the world over.
A call up to Black Stars surfaced in the local media and on social media for his call up after his sublime goal against King Faisal at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. He lifted the ball over Frank Boateng after chest-controlling a wonderful pass from the middle of the pitch. He managed to stay onside and lifted the ball with pinpoint accuracy over the goalkeeper. It is a goal well worth watching again and again and again.
He was part of Black Meteors in 2015 and also featured in 2015 All- African Games in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo. He has earned a call up to the local Black Stars but yet to be called to the senior team.
Invitation to the senior national team will cap a wonderful season for him.

The former Tema Youth and Kuwaiti side Burgan SC forward is amazing and when given the opportunity can deliver.
He is the unknown superstar who has been consistent for Aduana Stars this season. Adjei missed Aduana Stars’ tenth week 1-0 defeat to Medeama- it is the only game he has missed this season. He has played 18 games for Aduana Ogya Ogya this season, finishing half of the games. In total, he has enjoyed a whopping 1,473 minutes. It clarifies how important he is to Aduana Stars.
Emmanuel Gyamfi has not scored a single goal in his last 10 games but Adjei’s form has made everyone forget Gyamfi’s goal drought. Yahaya Mohammed has managed to find the back of the net only 3 times, has not scored in his last 4.
Aduana Ogya Ogya should have been in a dire situation considering Yahaya and Gyamfi’s form but the brilliant Bright Adjei is driving the team well.
He has amassed 120 league appearances for Aduana Stars and has scored 43 league goals since joining them from Tema Youth in 2015 whereas he had a short stint with Burgan SC in Kuwait in 2019.
Aduana will hope that Bright Adjei can lead them to an unlikely title challenge. Aduana Ogya Ogya Boys are second on the league log trailing Kumasi Asante Kotoko, the league leaders by 12 points.
At 27, he has more years to even get better. Can he usurp Kotoko’s Frank Mbella for the goal king award? Bright is putting up player of the season’s performance and he dreams of playing for Black Stars of Ghana. Aduana Stars has a bonafide footballer so it is no wonder they are second in the league table.
