The journey of hat-trick triumphs began in 1957 when Ad-Diba, donning the Egyptian colors, showcased his goal-scoring prowess. Since then, legends like Mahmoud El-Gohary, Mohamed Morsi Hussein, and Hassan El-Shazly, who achieved this feat in both 1963 and 1970, have graced the tournament with their exceptional skill.

The diversity of nations represented in this exclusive club is evident, with players like Eustache Manglé of Ivory Coast (1965), Algeria’s Hacène Lalmas (1968), and Laurent Pokou (1970) contributing to the rich tapestry of AFCON history.

Zambia’s Bernard Chanda (1974), Ivorian Joël Tiéhi (1994), and the renowned Kalusha Bwalya of Zambia (1996) continued the tradition of excellence. South Africa’s Benni McCarthy (1998) and Egypt’s Hossam Hassan also added their names to the illustrious list during the same year.

In the new millennium, the likes of Cameroon’s Patrick Mboma (2004), Samuel Eto’o (2006), and Tunisian striker Francileudo dos Santos (2006) further embellished the hat-trick legacy at AFCON.

The year 2008 witnessed Morocco’s Soufiane Alloudi etching his name into history. Fast forward to 2024, and a new chapter was written as Equatorial Guinea’s Emilio Nsue became the latest addition to the exclusive club, setting a unique record as the oldest player to achieve this remarkable feat.

Emilio Nsue’s accomplishment at the ripe age of [insert age] not only cements his status as a footballing legend but also adds a fascinating chapter to the ongoing saga of hat-tricks in AFCON. His feat exemplifies the enduring spirit and skill that transcends age, proving that the allure of the beautiful game knows no bounds.

As we celebrate these 17 players who have graced AFCON with their unforgettable performances, we are reminded that the tournament is not just a showcase of skill and competition but also a testament to the enduring legacy of those who have left an indelible mark on African football. Each hat-trick represents not only individual brilliance but also a collective celebration of the sport’s rich history on the African continent.
