The Ghana Football Association makes a significant announcement following a comprehensive review meeting between the Management and Technical Team.
Subsequently, a pivotal decision has been reached to alter the initial plans of hosting the Black Stars’ training camp in South Africa as a preparation strategy for the impending 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Initially slated to commence on Sunday, December 31, 2023, the ten-day training camp in South Africa has been relocated, and the Black Stars will now gather in Kumasi, starting Tuesday, January 2, 2023. This adjustment marks a strategic shift in the team’s preparatory phase for the prestigious tournament in Cote D’Ivoire.
The scheduled international friendly against Botswana, originally set for Monday, January 8, 2023, in Johannesburg, has been canceled. The Football Association is actively engaged in identifying a new opponent to fortify the team’s readiness for the challenges in Abidjan.
In response to the Black Stars Technical Team’s preference for a tranquil camping atmosphere, the hotel will be strictly off-limits to the public and media. Training sessions, in line with this approach, will be conducted behind closed doors, maintaining a level of privacy. However, a media interaction session is scheduled, offering a glimpse into the team’s preparations. Additionally, the friendly match will be open to the public, followed by a post-match press conference for media coverage.
The Ghana Football Association extends a call for public understanding and support, emphasizing the importance of achieving the objectives set by the Black Stars Technical Team during their camp in Kumasi.
Ghana finds itself placed in Group B, a formidable challenge alongside football powerhouses Egypt, Cape Verde, and Mozambique.
The Black Stars commence their campaign against Cape Verde on Sunday, January 14, followed by clashes with record-holders Egypt on January 18 and Mozambique on January 22 in the concluding Group B fixture.
The stakes are high, and anticipation builds as Ghana embarks on this formidable journey in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
