West Ham United star Mohammed Kudus will in the coming days join his Black Stars teammates in Kumasi before their departure to Ivory Coast for the 2023 Afcon, the Ghana Football Association has said.
The country’s football governing body in a statement on Monday 8th January, 2023 said:
“Mohammed Kudus has arrived in Accra and will join the squad before our departure for Abidjan on Wednesday, January 10, 2024,”
It continued thy “The midfielder is recovering from a minor injury he picked up while playing for West Ham United against Arsenal in the Premier League on Thursday, December 28, 2023. The player is currently undergoing rehabilitation.”
The medical team of the Black Stars is monitoring his progress of the former Ajax superstar and is happy to have him join the squad for the 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote D’Ivoire.
The AFCON tournament is set to kick off on Saturday, January 13, continuing until February 11, 2024. Ghana, with a rich AFCON history, aims for their fifth title, having last secured the trophy in 1982.
Despite reaching the finals in 1992, 2010, and 2015, the Black Stars seek to overcome past defeats and clinch victory in the prestigious tournament.
