Chris Hughton, the coach of Ghana, expresses confidence in the Black Stars’ ability to secure an early qualification against Madagascar.
On Sunday, the four-time African champions will face off against Madagascar at the Mahamasina Municipal Stadium in Antananarivo for the fifth round of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers. A victory in this match will guarantee Ghana a spot in the tournament to be held in Ivory Coast next year.
Looking ahead to the game, the 64-year-old coach states that his players are fully prepared to secure an early qualification for the tournament. He acknowledges the significance of winning the game and emphasizes the importance of their performance on the day.
Hughton expresses confidence in his well-prepared team, believing that they have what it takes to emerge victorious.
“We also know what it means if we are to win the game because of early qualification, so all of these things, we know but it’s down to performance on the day and so we are well prepared and I am sure we have a group of players that will do everything to win the game for us,” he told Ghana FA website.
Prior to the match, the Black Stars concluded their final training session this afternoon. The game is scheduled to kick off at 14:00 GMT.
