The 2024/25 Ghana Premier League kicked off with an exciting round of matches across the weekend, showcasing remarkable performances from some teams, while others faltered unexpectedly.

Hearts of Oak Drop Points in Stalemate with Nsoatreman
Hearts of Oak’s unbeaten streak was halted as they shared the spoils with Nsoatreman FC at the University of Ghana Stadium on Saturday. The 1-1 draw marks the first time in four matches that the Phobians have failed to secure all three points. Despite the draw, Hearts of Oak extended their unbeaten record against Nsoatreman to five matches, with four wins and a draw.

Bibiani Gold Stars Back on Track with Vital Win Over Vision FC
Bibiani Gold Stars revived their league title hopes with a convincing 2-0 victory over Vision FC at the Bibiani Dun’s Park on Sunday. The win sees Gold Stars climb to the top of the Premier League standings, pushing past previous leaders Nations FC, who suffered a narrow home defeat.

Heart of Lions Triumph Over Legon Cities
Kpando Heart of Lions cruised to a dominant 3-0 win over Legon Cities at home, propelling them to third in the league standings. Goals from Kwadwo Obeng Jnr, Mustapha Yakubu, and Nana Oppong secured their fifth win of the season.

Bechem United Extend Unbeaten Home Run with Win Over Accra Lions
Bechem United continued their impressive home form with a 1-0 victory over Accra Lions, thanks to an own goal from Adomko Boateng. The win extends Bechem’s unbeaten run at home to six matches, strengthening their position in the mid-table.

Holy Stars Claim Crucial Win Over Samartex
Holy Stars drew inspiration from their recent victory over Young Apostles to defeat Samartex 1-0 at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park in Anyinase on Sunday. The win marked Samartex’s second consecutive defeat, both of which have come at the hands of newly-promoted teams, Young Apostles and Holy Stars.

Berekum Chelsea Shock Nations FC with Narrow Victory
In a surprising result, Berekum Chelsea stunned Nations FC with a 1-0 win at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex. A second-half penalty from Stephen Amankonah sealed the victory for Chelsea, sending Nations FC to their first home loss of the season. The defeat snapped Nations’ historic 22-match unbeaten streak at home.

Karela United Down Dreams FC in Tuba
Dreams FC’s search for their third win of the season was unsuccessful as they were narrowly defeated 1-0 by Karela United at the Tuba Astro Turf. Karim Zito’s side now finds themselves teetering on the edge of the relegation zone, as their struggles continue.

Asante Kotoko End Winless Streak with 2-0 Victory Over Aduana
Asante Kotoko secured their first win in five matches with a vital 2-0 away victory over Aduana in Dormaa. The win is a crucial morale booster for Kotoko ahead of their upcoming Super Clash against their bitter rivals, Hearts of Oak.

Young Apostles’ Impressive Run Stopped by Medeama
Young Apostles’ fairytale run came to a halt as they were defeated 2-0 by former champions Medeama at home. After their notable win over reigning champions Samartex, Young Apostles couldn’t replicate their form against Medeama, who moved into the top four with the victory.
