Black Galaxies head coach, Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, has expressed optimism about Ghana’s chances of qualifying for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) as his side prepares to face Nigeria in the playoff round.

For the second consecutive year, Ghana and Nigeria will battle for a spot in the prestigious competition, which has been rescheduled for next year. The Black Galaxies triumphed over their West African rivals two years ago, securing qualification via penalties to participate in the last edition of CHAN.

Speaking ahead of the first leg scheduled for Sunday, December 22, Dramani emphasized the quality of both teams but highlighted his confidence in Ghana’s preparation.

“We are playing against one of the best football nations in Africa, and Ghana is equally a very strong side in African football,” Dramani told SuperSport Blitz. “The chances are very bright, and we are working diligently to put together a team with cohesion and tactical fluidity.”

The former Black Stars assistant coach elaborated on the team’s strategy, stating, “When we bring in the effort, energy, and adaptability in terms of tactical elements, we should be able to sail through.”

As part of their preparations, the Black Galaxies recently secured a morale-boosting victory over Togo in a friendly match, with goals from Albert Amoah and Issah Yakubu sealing the win.

The two-legged encounter against Nigeria will determine who earns a spot in the CHAN tournament, which is set to take place across Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. The second leg is scheduled for December 26 in Lagos.
