In the opening match of the 7th edition of the Futsal Africa Cup of Nations in Rabat, Morocco, Ghana’s Futsal National Team suffered a disappointing 5-2 defeat against Zambia.
Despite taking an early lead through Emmanuel Pako Nakotey’s clever finish, Ghana failed to maintain their advantage as Zambia rallied back, with Patrick Banda equalizing just before halftime.
Throughout the first half, Ghana’s Saviour Tsatsu and captain Timothy Kantanka Ntiamoah had chances to score, but Zambia’s goalkeeper Jackson Chitungu thwarted their attempts.
Zambia’s dominance intensified in the second half, with Francis Chinyama orchestrating their attacks. Within minutes, Chinyama’s powerful strike and Wiseman Phiri’s well-taken goal put Zambia firmly in control.
Although Philip Nii Boye managed to pull one back for Ghana late in the game, Zambia sealed their victory with goals from Mbalika Mwaliteta and Jackson Simwami, securing a convincing win and top spot in Group A.
The defeat leaves Ghana in need of a strong response as they prepare to face Morocco in their next group encounter.
