Heart of Lions Coach Bashir Hayford has expressed his excitement about the opportunity to face Hearts of Oak in the 2024 Homowo Cup.
The Phobians will be seeking to win silverware in this preseason friendly ahead of the 2024-25 football season. The two sides will compete for the ceremonial trophy at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, August 11, 2024.
Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Hayford mentioned that he is thrilled to see the Gbese Mantse after a long time. “We are playing against Hearts of Oak for the Homowo Cup. I was so delighted because Nana has been my good friend a long time, only that we haven’t met for a long time. So I knew I would meet Nana at that day,” he said.
Hayford also expressed his enthusiasm for facing Hearts of Oak, a team he has a good relationship with. “And Nana knows me when it comes to playing Hearts of Oak. I’m also delighted that once again I’m meeting a club like Hearts of Oak for this important cup. And we have prepared very well for this match.”
Apart from his excitement about facing Hearts of Oak, Hayford is also looking forward to putting on a show for the fans. “Apart from that, we want people to troop to the stadium and watch a beautiful game. Because we are going to thrill the fans and they will be happy for the occasion,” he said.
