Ghana head coach Otto Addo has expressed optimism about his team’s chances in their crucial Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Sudan, assuring fans that the probability of a loss is “very low.”
The Black Stars will host Sudan in the first leg of a vital doubleheader on Thursday at the Accra Sports Stadium, with kickoff at 16:00 GMT.
After a rocky start to their qualifying campaign — a 1-0 defeat to Angola followed by a 1-1 draw with Niger — Ghana is determined to turn their fortunes around. With only one point so far, they sit third in Group F and are in desperate need of a win.
Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Addo emphasized the team’s preparation and focus. “The probability that we lose tomorrow against Sudan is very, very low if we do our homework, if we are concentrated, and if we play together as a team,” he stated.
The second leg of the matchup will take place on Monday, October 14, at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Libya. Ghana, who last won the AFCON in 1982, are looking to secure their fifth continental title and reignite their qualification campaign.
