Ghana’s Black Stars are set to begin their preparations today for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, with a crucial match against Angola scheduled for September 5, 2024.
The four-time AFCON champions will host Angola’s Palancas Negras at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium before traveling to face Niger in their second group fixture.
Ten players have already reported to camp and will participate in today’s training session at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The attendees included Thomas Partey, Tariq Lamptey, Joseph Wollacott, Ibrahim Osman, Jonas Adjetey, Antoine Semenyo, Brandon Thomas-Asante, Frederick Asare, Ebenezer Annan, and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku.
Ghana FA Spokesperson Henry Asante Twum has confirmed that the technical team, including coach Otto Addo, is recovering well after a recent motor accident. The accident occurred while the team was returning from Tarkwa, where they had attended the Champions of Champions match between Samartex and Nsoatreman.
“The technical team members have received extensive treatment and are out of harm’s way. Scans were taken after the accident, and I can confirm that they are fine and will lead the training today,” Asante Twum stated.
Coach Otto Addo is expected to have a full squad by the end of Tuesday, ahead of their departure for Kumasi to continue preparations.
