Ghana coach Otto Addo has taken responsibility for the Black Stars’ 1-0 loss to Angola in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying opener.
Despite the Black Stars’ efforts to maintain their impressive unbeaten streak at the Baba Yara Stadium, Angola secured all three points with a stoppage-time goal.
Addressing the media after the match, Addo admitted that his side could have performed better and acknowledged that his substitutions came too late.
“When you lose, you are the bad guy. But I take it. After the game, everybody knows more. Maybe we could have done better with the changes. The second half was really good,” Addo said. “I think at least a draw would have been deserved, but this is football.”
The Black Stars will aim to recover as they face Niger in their next match on Monday, September 9, 2024, in Berkane, Morocco.
