Dreams FC will be hoping to finally kick-start their 2026/27 Ghana Premier League campaign when they travel to the AAK II Sports Arena to face Basake Holy Stars on Sunday in a crucial Matchday Nine encounter.
The “Still Believe” lads remain the only side yet to register a victory this season and head into the fixture rooted to the foot of the league table following a disappointing 3-1 home defeat to Vision FC last weekend.
It has been a frustrating campaign for Dreams, who have collected just three points from eight matches, recording three draws and five defeats. The former FA Cup winners have struggled at both ends of the pitch, scoring only seven goals while conceding a league-high 14, the worst defensive record in the division.
Their difficulties have been even more evident away from home. Dreams have managed just one point from four away fixtures, suffering three defeats and failing to keep a clean sheet on the road this season.
Despite their poor form, the visitors can draw confidence from their recent record in Anyinase. Dreams FC are unbeaten in their previous two Ghana Premier League visits to the AAK II Sports Arena, earning a goalless draw in the 2024/25 season before producing an emphatic 4-1 victory during the 2025/26 campaign.
Basake Holy Stars, meanwhile, will be eager to return to winning ways after their narrow 1-0 defeat to Hearts of Oak at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium last weekend.
The Anyinase-based club currently sit ninth on the league table with 12 points, having won two and lost three of their last five league matches.
While their overall form has been inconsistent, Basake Holy Stars have been exceptional in front of their home supporters. They boast a 100 percent home record, winning all four league matches at the AAK II Sports Arena without conceding a single goal.
Their defensive solidity has been the foundation of that impressive run, making them one of the toughest teams to beat on home soil and the third-best home side in the Ghana Premier League heading into Matchday Nine.
With Dreams FC desperate to secure their first win of the season and Basake Holy Stars determined to preserve their flawless home record, Sunday’s clash promises to be an intriguing contest with valuable points at stake for both sides.
