Swedru All Blacks will aim to continue their outstanding run of form when they host fellow newcomers FC Ashanti Gold ’04 in an intriguing Ghana Premier League Matchday Nine fixture at the Swedru Stadium on Sunday.

The Black Magicians have enjoyed an impressive return to the top flight and head into the contest brimming with confidence after winning three consecutive league matches. Their latest triumph came in a spirited 2-1 away victory over Young Apostles in Wenchi, extending their fine run after a narrow defeat to Aduana FC in Matchday Five.

With 14 points from eight matches, Swedru All Blacks occupy fifth place, level on points with the top four and only separated by goal difference. Their defensive discipline has been one of the cornerstones of their success, having conceded only five goals while scoring eight.

Their home record has been equally impressive. The Black Magicians remain unbeaten at the Swedru Stadium this season, recording three wins and one draw from four matches. They have scored five goals, conceded just once and kept three clean sheets, making their home ground one of the toughest venues in the league.

Ashanti Gold ’04, meanwhile, travel to Swedru hoping to end a two-match winless run after surrendering a first-half lead to draw 1-1 with Asante Kotoko at the Len Clay Stadium last weekend.

The Obuasi-based side have shown glimpses of quality in their return to the Premier League and currently sit 11th with 11 points from eight matches. They have won two, drawn one and lost two of their last five league games, scoring 10 goals and conceding nine this season.

However, their biggest challenge has been their performances away from home. Ashanti Gold are yet to register an away victory this campaign, managing one draw and three defeats in four road games while conceding six goals and scoring only three.

Team News

Swedru All Blacks are expected to retain the core of the side that defeated Young Apostles, with head coach Kwaku Danso likely to stick with his settled lineup after a series of strong performances.

Ashanti Gold coach Prince Owusu will also be encouraged by his team’s display against Asante Kotoko despite dropping points late in the game. The visitors are not expected to make many changes as they search for their first away victory of the season.

Kickoff

Competition: 2026/27 Ghana Premier League – Matchday 9
Venue: Swedru Stadium, Swedru

Prediction

Swedru All Blacks have been one of the league’s most consistent teams, particularly on home soil, where they boast an unbeaten record and one of the division’s best defensive records. Ashanti Gold have shown attacking promise but continue to struggle away from home.

With home advantage, defensive solidity and superior momentum, the hosts appear well-positioned to claim another important victory.
