Former Black Stars defender Tony Baffoe is urging the Ghana Football Association to set up a permanent football office in Europe to strengthen its engagement with young Ghanaian players abroad.
Baffoe believes such an office is crucial as more diaspora footballers express interest in playing for Ghana following the Black Stars’ qualification for the upcoming FIFA World Cup. Speaking to Citi Sports, he emphasized the importance of early scouting and consistent communication with eligible players.
He noted that while the final decision on call-ups lies with the national team’s technical team, the GFA must position itself to effectively monitor and attract emerging talents overseas.
Baffoe, the first diaspora-born player to feature for Ghana, also advised dual-nationality players to commit early if they hope to represent the Black Stars, stressing the need for clarity in their international future.
With World Cup preparations underway, Ghana’s technical handlers are currently assessing both local and international options as they work to build a strong squad for the global tournament.
