The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has clarified that there has been no recent contact between the Black Stars and England-based players Eddie Nketiah and Callum Hudson-Odoi.
Speaking on the issue, GFA Communications Director Henry Asante Twum explained that, as far as he knows, neither player has made any move to join the senior national team in recent times. He noted that the only known approach happened several years ago.
“To my knowledge, I am not aware of Eddie Nketiah or Odoi approaching the Black Stars,” Asante Twum said. “What I do know is that about four years ago, the coach made contact with these players, but it didn’t materialize at the time. Otto Addo has not informed me of any further discussions with them as of now.”
He also stressed that the doors of the Black Stars remain open to all players who are active and doing well at their clubs, regardless of where they play.
“Any player who is active and performing well is eligible to play for Ghana,” he added. “If the coach identifies a player he wants to call up, we will reach out. In cases of nationality switches, we will initiate the process and ensure it is properly handled.”
The statement clears the air amid ongoing discussions among fans about possible additions to the Black Stars squad, with the GFA maintaining that selections are based on performance and the coach’s decisions.
