Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has expressed satisfaction with Ghana’s commanding 5-0 victory over Chad but insists the team must quickly turn their attention to their next match against Madagascar.

Speaking after the game at the Accra Sports Stadium, Addo praised his players for their dominant performance but emphasized that Monday’s fixture will be a much tougher challenge.

“First of all, I am happy that we won, also that we scored a lot of goals, but to be honest, we have to concentrate on Monday. It will be a different game, much, much more difficult, and we are already thinking ahead of that game,” Addo said.

The Black Stars produced one of their most clinical performances in recent years, with Antoine Semenyo, Inaki Williams, Jordan Ayew, Mohammed Salisu, and Ernest Nuamah all getting on the scoresheet. The win moved Ghana to the top of Group I in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with 12 points, two ahead of Madagascar.

Addo also took time to acknowledge the support from the Ghanaian government, the media, and fans, urging them to continue backing the team as they push for World Cup qualification.

“I think the boys have done well, and we want to congratulate them. We also want to thank the President, the Sports Minister for their support, the media for giving us good vibes, and the people of Ghana for standing by us despite the difficulties in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

“Now, we are focused on qualifying for the World Cup, and for this, we still need your support. We have a long way to go, but I am happy we are now in first place. This is the position we have to defend, and with this win, I think it gives us a lot of positivity to carry forward.”

Ghana will face Madagascar on March 24 in Morocco, aiming to extend their lead at the top of the group and take another step closer to securing a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
