Black Stars head coach Otto Addo is expected to name a strong lineup for Ghana’s crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier against group favorite Mali today, June 6, 2024.

Addo might deploy a four-back system with Lawrence Ati-Zigi in goal, supported by Tariq Lamptey, Salisu Mohammed, Alexander Djiku, and Gideon Mensah in defense.

In midfield, Thomas Partey, returning to the lineup for the first time since October 2023, could lead the team as captain. He is anticipated to pair with Salis Samed in a double pivot.

Addo’s favored 4-2-3-1 formation could feature Ernest Nuamah, Kudus Mohammed, and Jordan Ayew in attacking midfield roles behind Antoine Semenyo as the primary striker.

The match is set to kick off at 19:00 GMT at the Stade du 26 Mars in Bamako.

A win for Ghana would elevate them to second place in the standings, as they currently sit fifth with one win and one defeat in two games. Conversely, a loss would severely hamper their chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Projected Lineup:

  • Goalkeeper: Lawrence Ati-Zigi
  • Defenders: Gideon Mensah, Salisu Mohammed, Alexander Djiku, Tariq Lamptey
  • Midfielders: Salis Samed, Thomas Partey
  • Attacking Midfielders: Ernest Nuamah, Kudus Mohammed, Jordan Ayew
  • Forward: Antoine Semenyo
