Black Stars head coach Otto Addo believes Ghana’s World Cup qualification destiny is firmly within their control as they prepare to face Chad in a crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Thursday, Addo expressed confidence in his squad, crediting the team’s recent victory over Mali as a turning point in their campaign.
“Surely, I am the head coach of the Black Stars, but this is not just about me. I understand the pressure, but we are in a good position—this is also because of the players. They fought hard and won against Mali away, which was crucial for getting back into contention. Now, our destiny is in our own hands,” Addo stated.
He also acknowledged the positive atmosphere around the team, which he believes will play a key role in their performance.
“This is very important and a big positive for us. I want to thank everyone for creating this encouraging environment. The players feel welcomed, and the energy from the fans is something they can feed off. I am confident we will deliver,” he added.
The Black Stars completed their final training session at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday. They will take on Chad on Friday, March 22, at 19:00 GMT, aiming to strengthen their position in Group I and take another step toward World Cup qualification.
