Black Stars open training camp with seven players on Monday

Seven players reported to training on Monday evening as the Black Stars opened camp to begin with preparations for the World Cup play-off clash against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Youngster, Fatawu Issahaku was one of the seven players to have arrived in Ghana for the matches against Nigeria in Kumasi and Abuja.

Thomas Partey was also among the seven players spotted at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday together with FC Sheriff Tiraspol midfielder Edmund Addo, goalkeeper Jojo Wollacot of England League Two side Swindon Town FC, Ghana’s favorite right-back Andy Yiadom, Abdul Manaf Nurudeen who is the first choice goalkeeper at Belgium Jupiler Pro League team KAS Eupen.

As expected, head coach Otto Addo with support from his technical advisor Chris Hughton, assistant coaches Mas-Ud Didi Dramani and George Boateng as well goalkeepers’ trainer Richard Kingston supervised the training.

Some of the players who arrived late on Monday were given time to rest and some of the invited players are yet to touch down in Ghana are yet to arrive.

The team will train on three occasions in Kumasi. Their first training is on Tuesday evening, another session on Wednesday before their final training on Thursday which would be a little bit in the afternoon as Nigeria will be training on the same pitch in the evening ahead of the game.

 

The Ghana FA has confirmed that, after the final training, coach Otto Addo and some players will interact with the media at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium media centre ahead of the first leg clash on Friday, March 25, 2022.

The game will kick off at 7:30 pm on Friday.
